Top 5 favorite Carved Pumpkins

A disclaimer is needed for the following list. This list consists of craved pumpkins that we have actually have seen in person or we've seen photos of. With that being said, I have not actually seen Stephen's world famous carved "people pumpkins" so Stephen was automatically disqualified, sorry.

5.The Cheese Burger Pumpkin- I really had to look at this twice. 4. The "Jack"- O-lantern- Jack made the list because it was super simple and really well done. Also because Chels really likes the movie, and I'm trying to score some extra points with her.
3. Ichabod- I thought I would add our new pumpkin monster to the list. We're pretty fond of him, so we named him Ichabod sense he had a pumpkin for a head.
2.Norm-o-latern- This made the list only because I have a man crush on Norm.
1. Ray Villafane- Absolutely incredible! Ray Villafane's work is nothing less then mind blowing! Tune into the Food Network on October 26th 2008 at 8pm eastern for "Outrageous Pumpkins". Their popular show "CHALLANGE" tackled pumpkin carving. Ray Villafane was fortunate enough to be one of four carvers invited to compete in Denver for 10,000.00 cash!! Good luck Ray. In the mean time PLEASE check out his website and his pumpkin gallery, you will not regret it! Http://www.Villafanestudios.com

5 Halloween Candies That Aren't Worth the Dentist Trip

5. Circus Peanuts - Chels is totally a texture person so for her these falls under the same bad category with Hostess pink snowballs and those terrible Easter marshmallow peeps. I'm not to sure there is a big difference between circus peanuts and white packing peanuts. For me though, they're just plain wrong in every way.

4. Necco Wafers - First let me apologize to Chellor's dad who apparently loves these things, but we can't understand why. - Necco waffers contributed to the origin of the Candy industry in Untied States, when in 1847 Oliver Chase invented the candy lozenge machine which produced Necco waffers. Later this led other inventions which helped create and produce other candys like M&M's, and Hershy bars. With that being said, it's nothing less then a miracle that these things are still around. They're disgusting.

3. Rootbeer Barrels - we can actually just include the entire awful Brachs candy mix! You know with the blue hard candies and other awful things you immediately want to spit out after tasting... yuck!

2. Red Wax Lips- Try all you want, but these things taste terrible! The Red wax Fangs are ok though.

1. Sour Candy in General - This type of candy is disgusting! We all have the same reaction to it, puckered liped, squinited eyes, and we then think to our selfs "why did I just eat that?". So why do it? Why do we torture our selfs by pretending we like sour candy?

Favorite 5 Halloween Candy

It's hard not to think about Halloween or in Chels's case, any day of the week with out thinking about candy. Every year little kids dress up like their favorite characters from movies they're entirely way too young to watch, and then over the week gorge themselves on sugar. What parent ever thought this was a good idea?

We've compiled a list of our top 5 favorite trick or treat sweets:
5. Miniature Kit Kats- For what ever reason miniature Kit-kats are a thousand times better then the normal packs of kit-kats. Probably because when someone says "hey break me off a piece of that kit-kat bar", it's a lot easier to reply "KISS OFF!" because it's really too small to share with any one else.
4. NERDS- This had to be the first attempt to help kids ration their own candy consumption, by being the first candy with a resealable lip on the box. If anything this just pissed me off! The nerds were always getting stuck around the opening, completely blocking off all candy intake! It was only natural to use your tongue like an aardvark to try and pry the candy out but that just made things worse! You would always have to tear open the box to get the rest of them! But at that point the remaining nerds were all slobbery and globbed together! If you can't tell...I'm not bitter!
3.Candy Corn- Love them or hate them, but it's honestly impossible to have October with out them. This beloved Halloween treat is celebrated every October 30th on "National Candy Corn Day". It seems that in the 1970s the price of sugar rose so much that confection companies were being forced to file bankruptcy, or take out massive loans just to afford the sugar. The demand and sale for Candy Corn was so great that it actually saved an entire industry. Even today an estimated 35 millions pounds of Candy Corn are produced every year. Chels might like them but when I was a kid if I ever got candy corn while I was trick or treating, I always knew which house was going to get a flaming bag of dog pooh on their porch later that night.
2. Sixlets- A personal favorite. I think as a kids these were my favorite because of how easy they were to eat. A typical Halloween involved a serious candy induced coma. With my eyes glazed over and in a full diabetic shock, it became more and more difficult to concentrate on opening candy. But with sixlets, you could shoot those puppies into your mouth just by squeezing the package. Or with a little practice you could launch those suckers across the room at an unsuspecting sibling.
1. Pop Rocks- These were awesome! It was like dinner and a show! You could enjoy our candy, and then be entertained with the small explosions in your mouth. It doesn't matter if it's your first packet of Pop Rocks or your 5000th (...Chels), but you'll always be shocked that the candy is actually exploding in your mouth. Everyone' s next natural reaction is to find someone to show them the huge pile of sugar making noise on your tongue. So classy.

Top 5 Halloween movies to Forget

5. The Swamp Thing- It really can't get worse then this. Half man half swamp, Swamp thing battles evil corporations who pollute the environment. You might have seen the recent remake "An Inconvenient Truth" were swamp thing was played by Al Gore.
4.Vampire in Brooklyn- Sad, but this might have been Ed murphy's best work not drawn as a jackass.
3. POWDER- I would love if this movie disappeared. But to be fair, I would love if every Jeff Goldblum movie disappeared.

2. Leprechaun- ALL of them! I don't think any one was too surprises about this anyone.
1.The Craft- The only reason this made the list was because Chels kept getting pissed and saying "They're doing it all wrong" as we watched the movie. Sooo... I think for my sake, this movie should just go away.

Top 5 favorite Halloween movies

5. The Labyrinth - I had to add this movie to the list. Ever since I saw this movie as a kid, I always wanted to dress up as David Bowie for Halloween. Sadly, my mom would never let me out the front door wearing one of her white blouses, my gray tights and a pair of my socks stuck down the front of my pants. I always explained that it was a part of the costume, but she never let me out of the house. For this reason The Labyrinth is a Halloween staple.

4.)Edward Scissorhands - This a classic story of a boy who doesn't fit into the mold of mainstream society who just happens to have razor sharp shears for fingers. The scariest part of the whole movie is how freakishly "McCain-esque" and similar the cookie cutter homes in the movie are to new subdivisions invading Utah. Oh and also the fact that Edward Scissorhands reminds me of Chels.

3.) Powder - Hands down one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. It easily made the list because it scared the crap out me!

2.) It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown- The only thing I remember about this movie besides it's fun to watch around Halloween is that Lucy drove me crazy in it. And the fact that Lucy reminds me of Chels.

1.) A Nightmare before Christmas - There is no question in Chelsi's mind this is the best Halloween movie ever. Now I said Chelsi's mind because I have never seen it. She's told me that this movie is just as important as scripture because I can learn something new from it every time I watch it.

October!

Hands down the best month of the year! The leafs are changing colors, hooded sweat shirts come out of the closet, college football is well under way, C-bass and I always take a really big and needed vacation, and the greatest thing of all is Halloween!

The little guy and I tend to go a little crazy each year obsessing over everything Halloween. For me, I don't think there is anything better then watching Chels find something new to add to our Halloween decoration collection. When she sees something she likes she'll smile really big. It's not a "I'm really happy" smile, but more of a mischievous smile. The type of smile you get right before you scare someone so bad they pee their pants! She'll then pick up the decoration and with wide eyes and under her breath she'll say, "coooool." If the price is right, Chels then starts what I can only describe as, "the potty" dance. She looks the same way a toddler looks when they need to go to the bathroom. She marches in place and a look of panic washes over her face. The panic for Chels comes when I tell her "you can take them all home". Well, Chels has a personal policy of "leave no decoration behind", so when she thinks I'm not looking she whisperers back to the other decorations on the shelf "Don't worry guys, I'll be back for you". I freaking love that girl! She so dang funny!

To help share our great love for all things goblins and ghouls, we will be posting a new list of either our top 5 favorite or our most hated things about Halloween each and every day in October.

The undead Pops and Chellor

There's no secret, we ABSOLUTELY love Halloween! We'll do anything possible to start celebrating as early as we can.

Thanks to our good friends over at The Wood Whisperer, Marc and Nicole introduced us to one of the coolest ideas ever! Monsters by Mail, is masterminded by the amazingly talented Len Peralta. Please check out his artwork, it's incredible.
